Application for Stage "Odorinoba"

A space for dance, ballet, traditional arts, performance with no limitation upon genre. Performers may submit 5 / 10 / 15 minute works to be presented to the public.

Application Details

Public performances involving physical expression

  • There are no restrictions to age, gender, or number of group members, but please give consideration to the size of the stage 5m×6m.
  • The representative of the group should be someone able to gather all members of the group promptly on the event day or the day before the performance.
  • Audio tracks should be transferred to an iPod or MP3, or saved on a CD or USB memory card. If no audio will be used, please perform within the time frames outlined on the application form.
  • Performances involving bad odors, use of fire, or those deemed hazardous cannot be presented.
  • Changing rooms are available.
  • There are no curtains or hidden spaces around the stage. Only fixed lighting is available.

Application Requirements

Provided participation fees are paid promptly, and due responsibility is taken for the production, content, and presentation of the performance, anyone is able to submit work. If after the selection process a submission is deemed to be unsuitable, applicants will be notified by the committee.

Please download the application form from the website and send it along with an image of the work and other required materials to info@en.3331.jp (if more than 5mb please send by file share service)

Deadline for submissions

1st August 2011 (must arrive on this date)
*Confirmation of the receipt of applications and bank transfer details will be sent the following day.
*In the case that all availability is filled before this date, the open call will be closed earlier.

Points to consider

  • As the number of performances per day are limited, it may not be possible to perform as requested in the application form. Applicants will be notified of whether their submissions were successful, and the schedule for the performance by 10th August.
  • 3331 asks permission to use photos and video of performances for the purpose of publicity and documentation.

Performances

  • On respective performance days, please come to the community space at 10:00am for an explanation of the schedule on that day. (in the case of groups, attendance is limited to the group representative)
  • On the performance day, please queue next to the stage as the second group before your performance are about to begin. When it is your turn to perform, please start your performance promptly, and give a signal to the PA staff when it has finished.

Public Critic Session

After your performance, and after commentary from the jury guests, please make your way off the stage promptly.

Guest Introduction

Ikemiya Nakao
Born in Nakano Ward, Tokyo. Performs not only in theaters, but also art museums, warehouses, and outdoors.

Ozaki Tetsuya
Born in Tokyo, 1955. Editor and art journalist. Lecturer at Kyoto University of Art and Design.

TAKASHI J/B
15-year career as dancer. Winner of the world dance contest 'R16' with dance group AREA CREW. Currently producing a new expressive style, HAND STAND ROCK ZERO ART.

Ito Chie
Formed the dance company 'Strange Kinoko' while studying at university. Since then, while presenting performances in Japan and abroad, has been choreographer for a large number of movies and commercials. Currently lectures part-time at Obirin University.

Shiba Yukio
Born in Aichi Prefecture, 1982. Member of the theater company 'Seinendan'. Has gained acclaim for use of loops, sampling, and other original elements in theater performances, and received recognition in the 54th Kishida Kunio Drama Award.

Nakamura Akane
Has been involved in the performing arts since her student days, and has produced a number of works at home and abroad for 'Chelfitsch', 'Nibroll' and Masako Yasumoto among others. Currently part-time lecturer at Nihon University College of Art.

Scholarship

6 performance works selected by the jury guests will have the opportunity to use the 2F sports hall for their training over a period of 3 months between October 2011 - September 2012. (Available between 10:00-17:00 – unavailable on days when other events taking place)
